WHAT ARE ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS?

All-on-4 technology refers to strategically placing four implants across either the upper or lower arch to help keep a denture in place. The procedure helps your denture to fit more securely and prevents the need for creams, adhesive strips and gels.

WHY WOULD ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS BE NEEDED?

You may want or even need all-on-4 implants if your current prosthesis is constantly slipping and falling out. Likewise, your prosthetic appliance might be uncomfortable or ill-fitting, causing you to feel pain or discomfort whenever you wear it.

WHO'S A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS?

Patients who have worn a denture for a while and are not happy with the way it fits might be a candidate for all-on-four. In addition, a patient who had just been told they need a denture and it has been determined that they might benefit from having implants to help support the denture may also be a candidate. Keep in mind that implants rely on healthy underlying bone mass to be fully stable. If you have bone loss, we may suggest a bone grafting before the surgery can be done. We will go over your health and medical history before recommending implants and you should be healthy enough to undergo the procedure and heal from it.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE FOR ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS?

You will be referred to a specialist to have the implants placed. Over the course of about three to six months, your implants will naturally begin to fuse with the surrounding bone and become secure and stable. You'll then come in and have impressions taken in order to make the denture that will fit over your implants. The process of creating your custom denture takes roughly five appointments and includes different types of impressions and try-ins. Once your denture is made, we'll show you how to remove and place the dentures as needed throughout the day.
