WHAT ARE DENTAL EXAMS & CLEANINGS?
Keeping your teeth healthy and clean requires more than diligent brushing and flossing at home. Plaque and tartar can build up on teeth in those hard to reach areas and the only way to get those areas clean is with a professional cleaning performed by a licensed dental hygienist. Periodic exams, performed by your dentist at your cleaning appointment, are necessary as well. Exams give your dentist the opportunity to detect any problems early and help prevent issues from getting worse.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU COME IN FOR DENTAL EXAMS & CLEANINGS?
We recommend coming into our office once every six months to keep up with your dental health. For patients with certain medical conditions or with a history of periodontal or gum disease, more frequent visits might be necessary. If it's been a long time since your last cleaning, it's never too late to start loving your smile. We offer care in a judgement-free and relaxed manner.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT THE APPOINTMENT FOR DENTAL EXAMS & CLEANINGS?
A typical cleaning appointment begins with taking cavity checking x-rays. Then, a licensed dental hygienist will clean your teeth using special instruments to clear away heavy tartar buildup and surface stains. Your teeth are then polished, carefully flossed, and the gums are checked for signs of inflammation or infection. Once the cleaning has been completed, the doctor comes in to perform an exam. The exam allows us to check for signs of tooth decay, loose or broken restorations, oral cancer and any other dental related problems. To make your future appointments easier, we'll pre-schedule them before you leave the office.
